Vacation is over – Second term begins today at GSHSEB schools

The second school term will begin on Wednesday as the 21-day Diwali vacation ended on Wednesday. Sources said that government, grant-in-aid schools and private schools conducted 104 days of teaching in the first term while in the second term they will conduct 137 days of academic activity. There are 50,000-odd government and grant-in-aid schools in the state, of which 36,000 are primary schools.

There are about 1.15 crore students at these schools. According to the board schedule, the schools will teach for 137 days in the second term, which will end in April. The second term exams at primary and secondary schools will begin on April 10, 2023. The Class 10 and Class 12 exams will be held from March 14 to 31.

Summer holidays will begin on May 1 and end on June 4. The new academic year will begin on June 5. Sources said as preparation for the board exams, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has asked all schools that have been registered as exam centres to install CCTV cameras. The cameras will have to be installed in every classroom in a block. Apart from this, the board has also asked schools to ensure that they have facilities such as benches, drinking water and electricity supply in place before the exams.
